Kalista's Garden

Don't you just love the romantic shabby chic designs of Glitz Design papers?  They make it very easy to get my creative juices flowing.  Here is the inspiration for their challenge this month.

When I think of spring, I think of flowers, butterflies, and the garden. So that is how I came up with this layout.

Kalista looks like she is sitting on a garden bench, It inspired me to make a garden gate. I thought I had one of Dusty Attics chipboard gates, but I must have already used it, or not put it where I generally put my chippies. So I used the Ornate Iron cartridge and cut one out on the Cricut.

I used THIS same technique that I shared on a previous post.

Aren't the butterflies gorgeous? I printed assorted sizes out on glossy photo paper then cut them out. I inked the edges with distress inks, then coated them in clear Rock Candy crackle paint. Then I embellished them with pearls. You really can't see the whole effect in the photo, but I LOVE the way they look.

I made the shabby blue flower with a strip of fabric that I had died. The edges are really frayed and stringy giving it a pretty shabby look.

Using one of Tim Holtz grungy brackets, I pounced on white acrylic paint, dabbed on some ink and coated it with the rock candy as well. I attached some brads then gave them a little hit of the hammer to dent them up just a bit.

Here is a shot of the beaded fringe trim, as well as, the rosette fabric trim.

Look how adorable this tag turned out. There will be a step by step tutorial on how I created this coming real soon. I hid the journaling on the back side. I didn't realize how slanted it printed until I was editing pics. oh well...LOL.

Thanks for stopping by!
