First Tri Fold Card

I finally made my first tri fold card. I thought it was much more complicated than it was, I think that is why I kept putting off trying it. But it was really simple! I designed it for this weeks challenge at Karen's Doodles Challenge Blog. As I have said before...I just love her digi stamps! They are so cute and full of character. This week the requirements were to use the colors from this photo.

Here is my take on the colors

Karen's Doodles Challenge

This is Karen's Doodles third challenge on her new challenge blog. This week it is "Fancy Folds". We have to make a card in a shape other than rectangle or square. Of course the main focus has to be one of Karen's awesomely cute digi stamps. I am fairly new to card making, so I had to really think about what to do. While researching, I found some really cool ways to fold cards, but I was afraid I wouldn't have enough time to complete the challenge by the deadline, so this is what I came up with.

I just love this Fairy Ballerina that Karen has designed, so I took her and made a mirror image, then attached them. (I had to clean up the one side that would make the back of the card). I then printed them out, cut out around them, making sure to leave the spaces where they connect in tack so it would be in card form. After cutting them out, I began the fun part, which is, coloring her in. I used my Prismacolors and blended and shaded using baby oil with a blending stump. I love how that technique makes the colors really vivid and pop. And of course I had to add a bit of sparkle with Stickles.

Come on over to Karen's Doodles Challenge Blog and check out all the entries.

More Cards

I'm taking a break from doing 12x12 scrapbook pages. Since my models are mostly my grandchildren Dax and Josslyn, I figured we didn't need a hundred of each of them at their current age, so just taking a small break awaiting growth spurts. In the mean time, I have been making cards featuring digi stamps from different designers.

This one is  designed by Phindy. You can find more of her great digi's on her PCP group, Phindy's Place.
She also has some great challenges and freebies....come join us!

Life is a circus

Here is a card I made using an image from Karen's Doodles (Bigsby the juggler). Karen has some of the most awesomely cute digi stamps to be had! You MUST check them out! The other images were free from unknown authors.

I colored in the images using water color pencils then blending them with baby oil...that's right...baby oil! It gives a very smooth effect and doesn't ruin cardstock like water can. And the colors are so vibrant.
