Papa and Me

This is covering a few challenges within the yahoo groups I am active in. The 52 Week Challenge and the SC12 Challenge at Scrappin-N-Chattin. It was based on the June Sketch at TX Scrappin Chicks. It has been a very long time since I have created anything with the Chicks, but I loved this sketch and knew I had to give it a whirl.

Here is my layout of Dax when he was about a year and a half hanging out with his great grandpa.

I used one of the kits from Boys Rule, that was full of Simple Stories Awesome goodies. I LOVE that collection! It also came with a 12x12 piece of corrugated cardboard, which I thought was pretty cool.

Beautiful Granddaughters

There is always something fun going on in the yahoo group Scrappin-N-Chattin. One of the things is the Monthly Sketch Challenge, which I design the sketches for.  Here is June's sketch.

And here is my layout based on the sketch

These are my three Beautiful grand daughters. Rachel, Kalista, and Josslyn. Here are some close ups.

Another challenge within the yahoo group is the SC12. Which is a monthly layout challenge. Abby sets 5 different prompts, and we are to create a layout for each one. Being the scatter brains that I am, I thought one of the prompts this month was to incorporate masking...well, it was...just not for the layout challenge, it is for the monthly card challenge. Anyway, I still wanted to share.  There are many ways to achieve this. Here is what mine looks like, then I will tell how I achieved this look.

I LOVE how it turned out!  I created a brick template in Inkscape, then cut it out. I laid it in several areas of the card stock, then randomly pounced on white acrylic paint. Once that was dry, I used a piece of dry wall mud tape and followed the same steps, using blue acrylic paint.

If you are able to cut svg files and would be interested in the brick template, just leave me a comment on this post with your email address and I will send you the file.

Slow Going

My crafting is going to be a bit slow going through the summer months as I prepare and undergoing a couple medical procedures. I will share projects as I feel up to creating.

I THANK each and every one of you who follow, it is you that give me the motivation to continue to share. I LOVE reading the comments that are left, it gives a boost to the ole ego....LOL

For those that I follow, even though I don't leave comments, know that I am admiring all of the fantastic projects you each are creating. They give me so much inspiration!

HAPPY CRAFTING!

Trains

It has been a while since I have created a double page layout, so I decided to follow Sketches In Thymes Sketch #79, which I was too late to enter in their weekly challenge...darn! I've also came outta my box again and worked with bright colors.

I just couldn't get a good photograph, no matter where I placed it, I still got a glare.

TPV-Saying Farewell

I can't believe that my 6 month term is up with the Design Team at The Paper Variety. It has been an honor representing Abby and Suzanne, owners of TPV, as well as, work along side with some very talented designers.
For this challenge, we were asked to design anything but a layout or card. The possibilities are endless! I chose to do this wooden canister that I picked up from Michaels. Of course I decorated in my favorite shabby chic style.

I began by prepping it by applying a couple coats of acrylic paint. Then adhered some patterned card stock. (sorry I didn't take step by step pictures)

I went around the lid with some fringe trim, then added a crystal beaded trim, and flowers and pearls.

Along the bottom I added this beautiful Venice lace trim, along with some bling.

For the front of the canister, I added more bling and random flowers. I tucked in some leaves, stamens, and a few curly q's.

For the top, I added a doily, more flowers and a big butterfly.

I hope you get a chance to join us for this challenge, I LOVE to see your creations! Also, you don't want to miss out on a chance for this awesome prize. Crate Papers Pretty Party.
