Beautiful

I have made another layout using the Swirlydoos Grandma's Garden kit. I just LOVE these Glitz Design papers that were part of the monthy kit. They are from the Lace with Grace collection. I made this layout based on Glitz's challenge sketch.
Here is the sketch. Isn't it awesome?! It was designed by Iwona Palamountain. It's a piece of art itself.

Here is my take on it. I flipped it to the other side.

Micki

It was time again for the 24 Hour Challenge over at Scrappin-N-Chattin, the bestest scrappy group on Yahoo! I LOVE this challenge. We have to submit 3 collections that we have. The hostess picks 3 sketches, then we are given a persons name and have to choose one of their collections and one of the sketches to use. We don't find out until "GO" time, so it is always a surprise for me.

Chosen for me was this sketch and Lace with Grace collection by Glitz. Which is just awesome!
I knew exactly which photo I wanted to use with this collection. One of my youngest sister Micki. I just LOVE this picture of her, she has the most beautiful smile. She is just an all around beautiful person...well...ok....most of the time!  LOL

Here's my take on the sketch

This layout is also for the "Anything Goes" challenge over at Trail Makers blog.

For Him

I made this card for the challenge over at The (Paper) Trail Makers Challenge blog. The theme was to make a masculine card. I used scraps of paper that I had left from an older line from My Minds Eye, Complete Boy. This paper pack is FULL of awesome papers!

The star is made from rusty metal. I have had it forever! I use to do wood crafts and make signs before I became so addicted to paper crafting. "It's your day" is a stamp from Studio 112 that I had picked up in the dollar bin at JoAnns.

Saying Farewell

This is my last post as a design team member for The Paper Variety, as my term is up. *sob**sob*
Abby and Suzanne have been wonderful to work under and run an awesome challenge blog. I sure hope some of you have applied to their design team call.

This weeks challenge is all about summer. Living in south Texas, I won't ever have a shortage of fun in the sun photos. We spend ALOT of time at the beach and if we are not at the beach, we are out at the pool. Recently, my sister came for a visit bring her two grandkids. It was the first time to the ocean for Emma, who absolutely LOVED it. I got some great pictures that worked great for this challenge.

I created the Summer Fun title in inkscape and cut it on the Cricut using SCAL. The cute little sea creature were cut from the Create A Critter cartridge, as did the sandcastle. The papers are the Snorkel collection by Cosmo Cricket.

Thanks for stopping by...and be sure to check out TPV to see the other design team creations.

WANTED

I can't believe it has been almost 2 weeks since I have blogged. Some of my family came for a visit, then I was struck with some summer virus going around. Sure hope it isn't going around in your area, as it was AWFUL!

Anyway, on to my latest layout. We recently took a mini vacation down to  South Padre Island, Texas. We stopped in this resturant for breakfast (sorry can't remember the name right now), and inside they had a little jail cell. So, being the scrapper that I am, I had to pose hubby and Dax inside for a photo.

I knew I wanted to make a fun "WANTED" poster type layout. I made the scroll base in inkscape, then inked, chalked, and drew in the lines. I LOVE how it turned out! I cut the title and reward using Engravers font and SCAL. The sherriff badge was a free svg file I found online. I used 3 small metal keys by K&Co.

Fairy Bears

The idea of this layout was thought up while thinking of what I would do for the Fruit Challenge at The Paper Variety last week. Needless to say, I didn't get it done in time for the challenge. With all the details, and drying time for the pieces, it took me over a week to complete.

Here are some close ups

The strawberry house is a svg file from My Scrap Chick. They have some of the cutest cutting files. I designed the cobble stone path in inkscape and then cut it using SCAL.

All the fairy bears came in the set with the strawberry house. Aren't they adorable?!

I also created the sun in inkscape. The clouds were cut from the Pooh and Friends cartridge.

The picket fence was cut from the Heritage cartridge, and the gate from the Freshly Picked cartridge.

Once again, I created the tiny flowering vines in inkscape. The center of the flowers are dobs of Perfect Pearls.

The apple tree was cut with the Cindy Loo cartridge. The apples have been coated with a diamond glaze to give a shiney surface.

I made the title and the title matting in inkscape as well.

TPV and Running Behind!

WOW...it's Wednesday already?!  Boy, I sure am running behind! I'm going to keep this post short and sweet.

This weeks challenge over at The Paper Variety is to use a masculine or boy theme on your project. I took this opportunity to make my dads Father's Day card.

Altered Shadow Box

I picked up this three compartment shadow box at a yard sale a few weeks ago, knowing it would be awesome to alter it. For the first week, it sat looking at me wondering what it was going to become...lol.  I was struggling with what to do with it. Then, while looking at the pages of my grandkids that I had framed, a light went on! I would put oma in it. That is what my grandkids call me. And hang it above their pictures.

This is what it started out as
And here is how it turned out

Close up of each section. Other than the large roses, I made all the flowers and vines. My second love to scrapbooking itself is making flowers and embellies.
