Sweet Baby

For this week, Nilda over at the Cuttlebug Spot asked the design team to include a hat pin on our project. I had started making my own a few months ago (see the video here). Also recently I got a new Canon Rebel (LOVE IT!) and had taken some awesome photos (well I think they are awesome...lol)  of my newest granddaughter, 3 week old Kalista. I knew I wanted to do a shabby chic type of layout with the photo, so hat pins would be perfect for this project. I am so happy with the way it turned out. As a matter of fact, I keep looking at it and thinking....did I really make this?  LOL  My good friend Dawn recommended that I frame it, which got me to thinking of making one of each of my 4...yes....4 grandkids and using them as wall art.

I love making my own embellishments, like the twishted ribbon flower. This is actually the first one I ever made....and I only burned my fingers four times with the hot glue gun...not too bad...LOL! They are very easy to make and could be come addicting. For the title, I inked a piece of white cardstock, and ran it through the Cuttlebug with the Script embossing folder, then inked it somemore. I then used rub-ons from Basic Greys Sugared booklet which I have had for a couple of years. I very happy with the way it looks. I also made a white satin yoyo flower added a pale pink sheer bow and stuck my hat pin through them....love it!

I ran across the swirly pearls with lace at Michaels, you may have seen them before, but they were new to me. I cut them apart to fit my needs. I had onle seen one package, but I will defininately be watching for more.
This also qualifies for a challenge over at Scrappin-N-Chattin, for use of two different punches. I used the mini butterfly and a border punch.
