Candy Land

Talk about challenging ones self...that's what I did with this layout. This weeks challenge over at The Cuttlebug Spot is to make a project based on a game. Since Candy Land has been a popular game in our household, I knew I was going to use it for my inspiration. As I sat and looked at the board, I got the GREAT (not!) idea of recreating the board on my layout. With all the cutting, gluing, and embellishing, it took me 3 days to complete it.

The path is made from individual pieces of card stock....now this was tedious!  LOL however, I am happy with the end result.

At the start line, I cut a lil guy from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge. The sprigs of grass are from the Winnie the Pooh cartridge. A short distance down the path, we come upon the Candy Hearts. These were cut using the George and Basic Shapes cartridge. I've used pop dots for dimension, and additional heart stickers that I picked up at Walmart.

Just a lil further, and you land in Peppermint Forrest. I cut the candy canes using SCAL from a free svg file I got from  http://www.freesvgfiles.com/ . I used Diamond Glaze to give them a shiney effect. I hand cut some gumdrops and sparkled them up with Stickles.

As you round the curve, you'll find another team player. She too was cut with the Paper Dolls cartridge.

continuing on around you come upon Lollipop Woods. I cut two different size circles from George and Basic Shapes, and covered them with Stickles making different patterns. For the sticks, I just cut strips of white cardstock and inked them up.

You know your reaching the end when you get to the gingerbread house. Again I used Diamond Glaze and Stickle to sparkle it up. The roof is covered with Glistening Snow Writer by DecoArt. It has a thicker consistancy than Stickles and looks more like frosting.

For the title, I cut the candy cane font using SCAL and the Cricut Expression.

This layout also qualifies for one of the challenges this month at Scrappin-N-Chattin, the BEST group on yahoo! Come on over and join in on the fun and prizes.
