I have Scrapped!

I haven't been feeling very inspired scrappy wise lately. I have only created two layouts all month! And both of them have happened in the past few days.

I have lived in Southern Texas for 16 years, so it was nice when I received some snow pictures of my son Rick and my grand daughter Rachel playing in the snow. I never get to do snow layouts. These are both pretty simple layouts, but I am happy with the way they turned out.

the first one "Snow Angels"

the second one "Enjoying the SNOW"

Maybe 2013 will begin with more productivity from me.

Canvas Art

Oh how relaxing it is to sit and paint. I turn on a book on tape and get lost in the story for hours while I paint.  I did these two canvas's for my grand daughters Kalista and Laila's bedroom. I just love the bright cheerful colors. I chose these specifically for their room when I won them recently on My Color by Pantone's blog hop. I had never used their paints before, but I can tell you, I am a BIG fan now. They are so creamy and rich and glide right on. No, I am not being paid in any form for my opinion. They truly are great.

ok...on to the canvas's.

I love how they turned out and can't wait to go hang them in their
room.

Name Banner

Are you ready to take a break from your Christmas shopping and holiday preparations?  Well sit on down and get creative. This weeks challenge at The Cuttlebug Spot is to create a banner. Any type of paper banner. I made a banner for Dax's room. Poor child should never forget his name, as I have it all over his room...LOL.

I tacked it on the front of a shelf. I think it fits in perfectly with his old cars and street sign decor. (I know....the little heart cut out in the shelf doesn't really work...lol)

I ran the alphas through the Cuttlebug then gave them a good sanding.

Here is a close up of the flags that I created in Inkscape.

I can't wait to see what you create! Be sure to upload it before December 16th for you chance to win $20 Boys Bucks from Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits

Winter Wishes

Three weeks until Chiristmas!   SHUT UP!.....REALLY?

I have not bought not even one gift!  ohhh how my hubby hates this....year after year, he tells me to shop throughout the year....only I can't! I am not good at keeping gifts hidden. I always want to give them to the person I bought them for, just to make them feel good.

I think what makes the time go so fast is the weekly challenge over at The Cuttlebug Spot. Seems like I just posted last weeks challenge and here it is time for another challenge. This week it is about "Seasons". With the winter season upon us, some are already thinking of a nice spring day, or a sunny summer's day at the beach. Which ever is your favorite, we would like to see your creation reflecting one of the 4 season's.

I chose the winter season. I LOVE snowmen, so I got to work in Inkscape and created this cutie.

What is your favorite season? I hope you get a chance to play along with The Cuttlebug Spot this week!

Be Jolly

Scrap Sandwich...that is the challenge this week at The Cuttlebug Spot. What is a  Scrap Sandwich?, you ask. Well, it is just using scraps and layering them up. easy peasy!  All of us paper crafters have TONS of scraps, so this is the challenge to use them up!

Here is my Scrap Sandwich.

I based this from a Thinking of You card I made a long time ago. Actually, it is identical except for the sentiment. I of course used all my scraps and sandwiched them together. (obviously....I like saying scrap sandwich...LOL!)

I hope you can join us this week, and remember to head over to The Cuttlebug Spot and see what the other DT members have sandwiched together.

You Rock

Gosh these weeks just seem to fly by! Here it is time for another weekly challenge with The Cuttlebug Spot.  This weeks challenge is to incorporate feathers. Any type of feathers, the real thing, stamped, die cut, or even metal.

For my project, I used Cricuts Rock Princess cartridge.

I love this heart and wing cut. For the background, I ran it through the Cuttlebug. I had to do this in two steps due to the card stock being larger than the embossing folder. The little border is normally a single svg cut. I copied it, then flipped it, then welded them together. I ran some hot pink embroidery floss through the slits that are already in the design. I stamped the word "you" on the heart. This is another card for my grand daughter Josslyn. Joss absolutely LOVES receiving these in the mail. I can't wait until the others get older and love receiving cards from Oma too.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Good Witch?

I finally sat down and scrapped a layout today. It is pretty simple, but I love the way it turned out. This is my grand daughter Rachel in her Halloween costume. I don't know, I think I might be a bit bias, but I think she is the most ADORABLE witch ever!

I made the witch's hat in Inkscape and cut the title using the Pooh Font Cricut cartridge set on the marker font. I wanted a more uniformed shape for the spattered look, so I dipped the end of different size paint brushes in black paint then dabbed them on. For the tiniest dots, I used a toothpick.

The challenge over at Use It Tuesday is something for which you are thankful for. I am VERY thankful for my grand children. I used up some old Making Memories Toil & Trouble from 2 or 3 years ago....oh my!

Cuttlebug Times Three

The challenge this week at The Cuttlebug Spot is to use the Cuttlebug in 3 ways. It doesn't have to be 3 different ways, just 3 different items. Such as, two different embossing folders and a die cut, or two different die cuts and a embossing folder. You get the idea.

For my card, I used the Swiss Dots embossing folder on the card base, and the largest square from the Fleur de Lis Squares by Spellbinders. I then used Cuttlebugs Cut and Emboss Butterflies die and placed it in the center of the square and ran it through the Cuttlebug. I used pop dots to give it a little dimension.

I hope to see your creation on The Cuttlebug Spot's blog this week.

Banners for Special Needs Kids Hop

If you have arrived here from Janet's blog, http://www.ladyluvbug.blogspot.com/  , then you are on track. If not, please begin with Ellen at http://www.cardmonkeyspaperjungle.com

Christmas Banners for Special Needs Kids BLOG HOP, November 10-12, 2012

"In the eyes of children, we find the joy of Christmas. In their hearts, we find its meaning."

As joyous as Christmas is for most families, for some, their holidays are filled with worry, medical treatments and tests, and pain -- for their child must be hospitalized or she or he needs long-term care rather than being home with their families.

For these kids, Santa doesn't slip down a chimney but rather, often comes in the guise of community volunteers who help make the season bright.

This is the second Christmas season that our own band of dedicated and loving paper crafters have come together to make Holiday banners for children who are too sick to be home for the holidays.  Welcome to the Christmas Banners for Special Needs Kids blog hop!

I am especially pleased that this year, not only have our numbers of generous crafters swelled so our Hop is over three full days, but also, that we have partnered with another great cause and recipient of our banners!

By teaming up with Madison Womack's I FEEL THE LOVE PROJECT, the banners our crafters have handmade will be going to the hospitalized children at Children's Hospital Central California

First, let me show you the banner I made for today's post. I'll be sending this to Madison and the children at CHCC who are benefiting from the I Feel the Love project in December:

Aren't this little elves adorable? The are a svg collection that I purchased from My Scrap Chick. I hope I have inspired you to make a banner. If you would like to send a banner, or be involved in the next Banner for Special Needs Kids, contact Ellen. You can find here blog HERE.

Trouble

This layout is based on #232 sketch over at Creative Scrappers. I used up some more of my older papers. These are from the DeLovely deck by Cosmo Cricket. They matched perfectly with Kalista's dress.

Sorry, once again I just couldn't get good lighting for the picture. I so need to take a photography course.  LOL

Spooky

Halloween, use purple, black, and orange, that is the challenge this week over at The Cuttlebug Spot. I designed a layout. I haven't added a photo yet, I'm waiting to take pictures on Halloween.

The haunted house is a svg cutting file from Halloween Town collection over at the Digi Bistro. The bats, fence, and cat are from the Disney Halloween and Tricks and Treats cut and emboss Cuttlebug dies. I sanded the embossed parts to highlight them. The ghost I made in Inkscape based on a free clip art I found on the web. The pp is from the Toils and Trouble collection by Making Memories. An oldie but goody.

Hope you play along with us this week. Thanks for stopping by!

Turkey Place Setting

Time for a new challenge over at The Cuttlebug Spot. And let me tell you....this one sure challenged me! The prompt this week is to make a 3d project which includes a turkey. What in the world was I going to make?! My mind just hasn't been functioning lately with all these complications I am having after having surgery. I was really stumped!

I started by making the turkey in Inkscape to cut on the Cricut. Now, what to do with him. I have seen these cute paper pumpkins all over in bloggy world, and really like them. So I came up with the idea I could combine the turkey and pumpkin to make my place card holders for Thanksgiving dinner.

Be sure to head over to The Cuttlebug Spot and see what the rest of the team created.

Hello Princess

What's on your desk Tuesday?  That is the challenge this week over at The Cuttlebug Spot. I had these items stacked on the corner of my table awaiting to be played with. One of the stamp sets and the papers came as a bonus with a magazine that one of the girls in the scrappy group sent me so I would have reading material as I recoup from surgery. (thanks again Christy!)

When I first seen them, I knew I was going to make a card for my grand daughter Josslyn. She is 4 1/2, and LOVES when the mailman brings  her mail.

This is also for the Link up for Pink 2nd Annual Link Up Party. Though this is a Breast Cancer Awareness blog, all projects are welcome as long as it's focus is pink. And if you would like to donate your project, they list an address for  you to send it in. I think this is great. Shows our support.

A New Blog

I have a new blog. But don't worry, I'm not giving up this blog.

Along with my love of scrap booking and crafting, I love to redo old furniture and accent pieces that may other wise be heading for the landfills and reclaim them to use in today's decor.  So I have created Studio 718.

I hope you will come follow along with my trials and errors.

Goggles

Over at MME, one of the challenges is based on the favorite saying of Tim Gunn on Project Runway "Make It Work" . If you watch the show, then you know they are always throwing in a surprise and the designers have to complete a second coordinating look. Well that is what we have to do for MME's challenge, create a layout and a card that fits in.

Here is what I created
I used the Good Day Sunshine collection that was gifted to me by my scrappy friend Abby.

Every time I look at this picture of Dax, it makes me smile. I can't remember what he was playing, but I'm sure it was some type of super hero.

Here is the coordinating card

Traveler

I just love this picture of Dax walking down the train tracks. They reminded me of when I was a kid and would see the hobo's hanging around the tracks awaiting the next train to hop to take them to their next destination.

I followed September's sketch 28 over at Boys Rule and used some more tid bits that I have left from Simple Stories Awesome collection. I LOVE that collection and have been hoarding every lil scrap. I actually sat and made little embellishments for a future layout with the tiny scraps I had left.

It's Fall

It's back! The Cuttlebug Spot's first challenge for October went live today!

Don't you just love the colors of fall? I know I do. I never have a problem working with fall color combinations. Seems that I gravitate towards them even on a bright sunny summers day.

I already had this on my to do list before learning the prompt this week is Fall. I wanted to make some type of photo displays that I could sit out with some fall decor.

I decided on using the format that one would make an easel card. for the ease of being able to fold it for storage after the season. I will be making these of all four of my grandchildren. I think they will look great once I stop procrastinating about decorating....LOL.

Hope you can join us this week. Thanks for stopping by! Pin It

Beach Babe

Following sketch #227 from Creative Scrappers, and #107 prompt  from Lasting Memories, which is to use ribbon, lace and pink. This is what I came up with.

I probably should have waited to take the picture of it in the morning, as the lighting is really poor. But I was afraid something would happen and I would forget about it and not enter the challenges.

A couple times a year here along the Texas gulf coast, the seaweed comes ashore in bucket loads. I think it is smelly and gross, but my grand daughter Kalista was so intrigued with it and thought it was the neatest stuff to play with. She would pick it up by the hands full and just walk all around with it. More than a few times, she tried to hand me some....ewwwww!  LOL

I'm Surviving

It is day 5 after surgery, and I think I may survive. The doctor told me it would be a rough couple of weeks...he was not lying!  It has been up and down. Feeling good one minute and down and out the next.

I'm hoping to get creative tomorrow. I'm having scrappy withdraws....LOL Pin It

First Day

A bit ago, I announced that I had been chosen to join the Design Team over at Nuts About Sketches. I was excited and really looked forward to joining the team. However, shortly after, I found out I was going to have two major surgical procedures that would result in me not being able to fulfill my commitments. Sadly, I had to decline the position. *pouting*. I'm excited that I got a chance to at least play along with them this week.

Pickle

When I first seen this picture of my grand daughter Rachel, the title for the layout came right to my.

The Popsicle is a chip board embellie from the Splash collection by Little Yellow Bicycle. The pickle I made in Inkscape and cut it on the Cricut.

I followed Creative Scrappers sketch #224. The new challenge blog Cut it Up  is having their very first challenge, which is anything goes. but you must use a die cut on your project. I also incorporated this weeks prompt at Frosted Designs, which is to use a journal card.
