You Are

Recently, we took 3 of our 4 grandkids to San Antonio for a few days of fun. (sorry you missed it Rachel!) I was able to capture this adorable picture of Kalista as she climbed up and sat on a bench. Isn't she just the cutest?!  The surrounding colors were perfect for the outfit she had on. It's hard to tell, but there are cherries and hearts on her dress. That is where the inspiration for the title came from.

Here are some close ups of the embellishments. I got the corrugated hearts from The Funkie Junkie shop.I stacked them and added a button.

I designed the cherries in Inkscape and then cut them out on the Cricut.

The butterfly is made from both the large and small MS punches.

Built Tough

I have been sick lately and haven't had any mojo. So I went in search of some inspiration. This is what I found on Keep It Simple Scrapbooks. I couldn't find the name of who designed it, but it really caught my eye, and I still had some of the A Boys Life collection by Echo Park. There are very few differences in the inspirational one and the one I created.

the inspiration

my take

almost identical huh? I think this is the first time I have lifted and used almost all the same elements.

For my project.................

I used the A Boy's Life collection for my layout. There are so many great papers in the collection, it was hard to decide which to use. I cut some of the banners and stars from them, as well as, a few from card stock which I ran through the Cuttlebug. The little banners at the top of the  journaling block are stickers that come in the kit as well. I used tiny alpha numbers to number the list.

Now hop on over to ScrapFIT to see how their team worked this Sketch Workout! Enter your layout at TPV and ScrapFIT for a chance to win prizes at both places!

How to make a 6x6 envelope without a score board

Today is my day to host a tutorial for The Paper Variety. I did have one pre posted and it did post, but this evening I realized I posted the wrong one. So here is the correct one.

Want to make a 6x6 envelope that coordinates with your card, but don't have a score board? Well, in this tutorial you will learn how in a few simple steps.

Supplies
card stock
ruler
pencil
adhesive

Cut the card stock to 10x10 inches. Find the center point, as well as the center points along each side. Place a small tick mark.

Going from tick mark to tick mark diagonally
using a ruler, fold toward the center tick mark making a crease

  continue around all four corners

fold two corners across from one another toward center
add adhesive to outer edge of bottom flap, then fold up over
the two side flaps. envelope is done!

add card, add adhesive to outer edge of flap and seal.
now you have a coordinating envelope ready to mail
your 6x6 card.

Tic Tac Toe

Don't you just love a good game of Tic Tac Toe?  That is the challenge this week at The Paper Variety. I love this challenge, though it is always hard to made the choice of which challenge to do. For this one, I did row three down. Emboss, make a card, and die cut.

I did the embossing and die cut in one, using the Spellbinders dies. While it was still in the template, I inked the inside edges. After stamping the image and adding the tiny types, I coated the die cut with Distress crackle paint in clear rock candy. Once dry, I went over it again with distress inks and used a damp paper towel and softly rubbed it off, leaving the ink in the cracks. I love how it turned out.

If you want tiny cracks as I did, apply a lighter coat. The thicker the coat, the larger the cracks.

The roses and seam binding started out white. I used my water pen and distress inks to dye them to fit my needs.

Now head on over to The Paper Variety to see which row or column will challenge you. The sponsor for this challenge is Crop Chocolate.
