I have been a smoker for 31 years....I know....surprised huh? If your trying to do the math, I was 14 when I started.....14!!!! Everyone around me smoked, my dad, my sisters, my brother, my friends, it couldn't be that bad if every one was doing it...right? WRONG!
Many illnesses are related to smoking. Heart Disease (which I suffer with), lung cancer (which my grandfather died from and my sister suffers from), plus many many other health issues. You would think that these things would make a person not want to smoke, but smoking is a drug, just as bad as some of the illegal drugs running rampant on the streets. Smoking is HIGHLY addictive and the HARDEST thing I have ever tried to conquer!
Today is day 6 of being smoke free. I think I'm through the rough withdrawls. The tension in the neck and shoulders, snapping at anyone near me. Now I have to get through the wanting. I don't feel that I need it, I just want one.

You can do it my friend!!! It will be three years for me this March. I never did really want to quir, I had to. After a trip to Vegas, I came home and was having a real hard time breathing. About 4 days later I ended up in the hospital fighting for every breath I took. Needless to say, I came home with a oxygen tank and was told IT WOULD BE FOR LIFE. I proved the doctors wrong. I never had another smoke after that and I do not have the oxygen any more for now anyway. You can do it, if you ever need anyone to talk to about, give me a shout, I am a good listener and have been through it all.
Well done for the fist six days Theresa. I too know how hard it can be.. Take it one day at a time!! Keep it up!! Andy.
Just found your blog from the Cuddlebug Spot and wanted to say great job on quitting smoking! I hope that you continue to have success. Your friends and family will be so happy too...My father-in-law finally quit after many tries about a year ago. I really loved your place setting and napkin ring you made-yours was my favorite. Keep up the great work.
Keep going Theresa, it will be worth it in the end. I'm an ex smoker and I feel so much healthier for giving up. Best thing I ever did.
