Kissable

Yep...I really haven't fallen off the face of the Earth!  LOL  Sorry for the lack of posting lately, life has been crazy. I know you all can relate...it happens to all of us. With Dax being in and out of the hospital, and still fighting illness, and me supposing to have surgery yesterday, which was postponed due to an abscess tooth, I really haven't had much time to think, let alone craft. However, I am happy to say, that I have crafted most of the day away.

I decided I wanted to do a mixed media layout, so I went to town adding this and that. I am really pleased with the way it turned out.

I love this die cut paper by KaiserCrafts, and just used it as my background base. I had to tape it directly to the wall to get a good photo. LOL.

I had so much fun making a mess while making the embellishments.

This Face and TPV

Isn't this a great sketch that Diana from Design by Diana has created to use for the challenge at The Paper Variety
Here is my take on it.
I used Echo Parks This & That Charming collection. I love the color combo of the collection.

I love to use mixed alphas and random embellies.

I cut this from one of the sheets of paper. It has a bunch of cards with different sayings.

These vinyl stars are not part of Echo Park, they came in the the scrapbooking kit from Boys Rule. I layered them up and added a button with twine.

Be sure to check out The Paper Variety, as each day there is fresh inspiration or tutorials added. And don't forget to add your creation for a chance at this awesome prize.

My Brother Jeff

Using the May 11th sketch, and the May Kit from Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits, I created this layout of my brother Jeff.

The kit is full of great elements. Here are some close ups.

All of the elements I used came from the kit except for his name, which I cut using George and Basic Shapes, and the silhouette. My friend Sandi from Slightly Off Center gifted them to me a while back. shhhh  don't tell her, I forgot all about them until I was digging in my stash...LOL.

I did some fun doodling for my journaling.

Just a few more fun elements.

My Guy

Using the April 13th sketch and the April kit from Boys Rule, I created this layout of Dax when  he was one. This is still one of my favorite pictures of him. It was taken by the water falls in the courtyard of the Shops at La Cantera in San Antonio Texas.

Here are a couple of close ups. Everything I used except for the tiny alphas that spell "my", came in the kit.

All Aboard

I finally got a chance to scrap after a rough week. Dax woke up throwing up blood one night. I called an ambulance and tried not to show the lil guy that I was panicking. I had never seen so much blood coming out of some one before. On April 19th, he had his tonsils out and apparently the scabbing that is suppose to happen didn't and all that blood was clotting in his stomach....ewwww! He was  hospitalized for a few days due to losing so much blood. But all is good now, he is back to his normal ole bratty self. And returned to school today.

Here is a layout I did of him today. Recently while at the park, a train had parked. The engineer got out and went to the local convenience store, so his mom thought that was the perfect time to take some pictures of him on it.

I used Authentiques Free Bird papers and followed the sketch from ScraputanteBlog

I cut the train and accessories from the oldie but goodie My Community cartridge. I did my journaling right on the caboose. I added Stickles to the rail road sign to emulate lights. For the puffs of smoke, I cut clouds with SCAL and ran them through the Cuttlebug with the D'Vine Swirls embossing folder. I think it gives the impression of swirling smoke.

For the title, I cut the alphas with Sizzix's Rat A Tat alpha dies. Then embellish with buttons and burlap twine. I love the burlap twine. The Funkie Junkie has many colors of it.

Handmade Flowers - TPV

The challenge this week at The Paper Variety is one of my favorites. I love making flowers. For these flowers, I took a strip of material, folded it in half length wise, then did a running stitch from one end to the other. Then pulled the thread, securing it to the other end when I liked how the pleats looked. I made two for each flower, then sewed a button in the center attaching the two.

Be sure to follow along each day at The Paper Variety to see the flowers the other designers have made.
