Almost Here

I can't believe it's the last hour and a half of 2009...nor that I am going to be 45 in 2010! Where did the time go? I think I blinked one too many times...lol. Do you realize that in 10 short years we will be living in the time of Buck Rogers...2020??? Seems so sci-fi to me. Although, when I was a kid and watched the Jetson's, I just knew by this time we would be living in highrises and driving air cars...admit...you did too! LOL
2009 wasn't that bad of a year, I was surrounded by those who love me, who could ask for more? I don't set New Year's resolutions, cuz we all know...I DON'T stick to them. I'm just thankful for each and every day that I get to spend with my family and friends, and to get to do my scrappy stuff. Ok, I'm done rambling now...LOL

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Another Frame

I liked Wendy Kwok's frame technique so much, that I created another frame using it. I made this one for my mom of my 93 year old granny. I just love how it turned out! I made those roses myself (patting myself on the back...lol) After the holidays, I will do a step by step on how to make them. Pin It

Inspired!

I was so inspired by Wendy Knok's project she made for Webster Pages 12 Days of Christmas, a frame made with cardboard and wet crumpled paper.I knew I had to make one. Of course, hers is using the Webster Pages products, and since I only have a couple pieces of their paper, I had to adapt it to what I had. But I still think it turned out beautifully! To check out Wendy's, visit her blog, she has done a step by step tutorial for the project.

Here is my take. Pin It

Tag Sketch

This is my take on the tag sketch from Sketches 4 All. The requirements were that you had to use bling and ribbon or lace. I went and invaded my moms craft room since I was staying with her for a long weekend and didn't bring any scrappy stuff to work on. The tag is made from a card she had received, then I just took scraps of things she had lying around. I really like how it turned out. Pin It

New Sketch Site

One of my fellow scrappers has started a new Sketch Site. If you like to use sketches, go check it out. It's called Sketches 4 All. She is giving away some great Bo Bunny products to one lucky person who uses the sketch and uploads it in the gallery. Here is the sketch for December. I'm going to get started on my take for a chance at the Bo Bunny products...love Bo Bunny! Oh yeah...and to support my fellow scrappers new site! LOL

Christmas Tags

Again on Scrappy Accents, I participated in a Christmas Tag swap. Here is what I made. I picked up these awesome Christmas papers by My Minds Eye the other day. They are already embossed and glittery, they are so pretty, I had a hard time embellishing them. They would make beautiful tags or cards all by themselves.

A gift for Scrappy Princess

Over at Scrappy Accents, we have a Scrappy Princess. One person holds the crown for one month, and those of us who want a chance at that crown for the following month sends the reigning SP lil gifts. They can be handmade or store bought, it's totally up to the individual sending the gifts. This month Melody wears the crown. Here is one of the things I made for her. I altered a wooden circle and letter M. I think it turned out beautifully.

Just had to share

I couldn't help myself in sharing this priceless photo of my granddaughter Josslyn. While visiting, we went to a local park and this was her reaction upon reaching the end of the swirly slide. The slide produces static, so her hair was on ends. I LOVE IT!!!

Scrappy Accents

I'm home and boy have I been busy! Not with scrapping however. One of my favorite scrappy groups, Memory Scrappers has closed it doors. I have made some awesome friends in the group, so a few of us decided we needed to create another group to keep us together. So, that is what I have been doing, designing a new community, Scrappy Accents. It is already fastly growing! We have some fun things planned for the future, such as, challenges, swaps, helping organizations, and of course lots and lots of chatting.
We are also seeking our first Design Team. Hop on over to Scrappy Accents to learn all the details. Also, check out our new group blog HERE. Hope to see you there!!! Pin It

Digi Stamps

Do you love digi stamps? I have recently stumbled upon them...and I must say I love them! If you are a card maker, digi stamps are for you! They are so easy to work with without the mess of inks. You can fill them in with markers, chalks, or water colors. I picked up a couple from my friend Diane over at DZ Doodles. She has some cute stamps. Here is what I did with some that I had gotten.

Isn't Santa Frog just the cutest? I imported him into a program and added the "Hoppy Holidays" My mom collects frogs so I thougt it would make a cute Christmas card...well when I get it finished it will.

And then there is Toby Turtle. I just LOVE him! This is such a happy colorful card. I used a wet marker technique on my digi's. I scribble markers on a piece of transparency then use my aqua pen to pick up the colors. It gives a water color effect.

Use It Up!

Over at one of my favorite chatty (and I mean chatty!) hangouts, Memory Scrappers, Jenn holds monthly Use It Up Challenges. She sets certain challenges for us and we receive points for items we have created throughout the month. The person with the most points at the end of the month gets an awesome surprise from Jenn. (she always gives such great prizes!!!). One of the challenges this month was either to use black and white photos on colored paper, or colored photos on black and white paper. I chose to do black and white photos on the colored paper...here is my take.

I actually got to use this layout for 2 challenges, On Memory Scrappers and Scrap Around The Clocks Sketch Challenge group. Here is the sketch that was offered on SATC

I just love this picture! It looks as if my granddaughter Josslyn and her daddy Jakob are sharing secrets, while uncle Rick tries listening in.

Here It Is!

My very first design team challenge with Scrap Around The Clock Challenges. Here were the guidelines for this challenge. No patterned paper, must use masking, brads, and flowers.

For the masking, I used my moms Cricut Expressions machine (cuz I only have the baby one) and cut a large scrolly shape, laid it on some light pink cardstock and used white ink around the edges, then followed with a darker pink ink for shading. I then used a fine tip memory marker and made dashes around the whole design. I also used the Cricut for the lettering and leaves. I love making leaves! I usually cut them in at least two different colors and do some shading on them with a water painting technique I do using markers. Then I run them through the Cuttlebug with embossing folders, and finish up buy wrapping them around a marker to curl the edges a bit.

This is the first time I have been tagged, and it's exciting! I'm suppose to list 6 non-important things that make me happy. Though I don't think anything that makes my happy is non-important...but here's my list!

2. The coast - I LOVE sitting on the beach with the breeze from the waves blowing in my face, taking in the smell of the salt air.

3. My scrappy groups - Isn't the web just fantastic? Permitting us to make friends all over the world without leaving our homes.

4. The Wishblade - A personal cutting machine which gives me the freedom to design and cut my own paper piecings.

5. Green grass - I love the feel of it under my bare feet.

6. Last but not least - Naps! LOVE...LOVE...LOVE my naps! LOL

And now, I get to tag 6 wonderfully talented people!

1. Jenn at I Scrap Memories
2. Emily at Through Emily's Eyes
3. Brianna at Jill of all craft tradez

Gone Croppin'

I have been trying to post about my recent crop, but blogger was having some issues and would only accept bits and pieces of the post. So I'm hoping I can get it all in tonight.

I met up with some friends I have made on a couple of yahoo groups, we met up at Journey Lane in Fredricksburg, TX. Most of us are members of both groups. Memory Scrappers and TX Scrappin Chicks. (blogger is not allowing me to add links to the groups at this time....so head on over to yahoo groups and look us up!)

Some got lots done at the crop....I however...didn't! I was too busy gabbing to get anything complete. When I got home, I did finish what I started. I used a round wood piece and a wooden letter T and deco-podged them with patterened papers, added some bling, and this is what I created. One would think that I could of finished this in an 8 hour time frame....huh? Took me 8 hours just to get the papers deco-podged! LOL!

Altered A

Over at Memory Scrappers yahoo group, we have a Ms. Memory Scrapper each month. How this works is, say like the month of June it's my good friend Ann, so all month long we send her lil goodies, handmade, store bought, or even found objects. Each time she receives a envie, that person gets put in the drawing for a chace at being the next months MMS. Sounds fun..huh? who doesn't like to open their mailbox and find lil goodies inside?
Here is a pic of an altered wooden letter A that I did for her. The picture really doesn't do it justice, it is MUCH more beautiful in person (tooting my own horn...lol)

Beautiful Card

My good friend Jenn had her tonsils taken out, so I made her a feel better card. I got the idea from a old magazine and put my own twist on it. It was all made from scraps other than the vellum butterfly paper. I bought that ages ago because it was pretty. I think it work wonderfully on the card.

I just LOVE these pictures of Dax at a small botanical garden in Center Point. He was so curious about everything and had to touch and explore it all! He especially liked the koi pond. The koi's would nibble on his lil fingers and he would laugh.

Just look at this cute flower I made with a zillion lil circles....ok...so maybe not a zillion...but it sure was alot! LOL

I used Tim Holtz distressed ink techniques. They really give a cool effect! You swipe the ink pad on a piece of transparency, then use a mini mister sprayer and mist the ink with water, then slid your paper through the ink. If you need fast drying time, use your crafty heat gun to dry your paper. I then curled the lil circles around the shaft of my craft knife, then set out to glue them all together, added a decorative brad...and waa laa! a cute lil flower!

I think I need to start making some videos...what do you think?

I used tag cards to make these.
I really like how the ribbon looks
wrapped around the star with a
star charm hanging from it.

This one is a spinner card. As you move the card, the star spins up and down the grid. This is the first one I have ever made. I think it turned out pretty good.

NSD

So Saturday was National Scrapbook Day and I played ALL day at an online live crop with my yahoo group Memory Scrappers. Jenn, the groups owner, planned a fun day of games and challenges. And I won!!! actually, I won 2 gift baskets (each valued at $50.) and a small surprise gift...what a lucky day!!!! Here is what I accomplished Saturday.

We had to use at
least 4 differnt
colors for the card

For this one, we had to use a song. I had never scrapped using a song before so what did I come up with? The monkey song! lol you know....10 lil monkeys jumping on the bed...one fell off and bumped his head...LOL For those who know us...know that we can't go any where without Monk. Dax drags this thing ALL over!

For this challenge, we had to
use the words "The Best"

For this challenge, we had
to use a sketch.

I thought I would share the final one with you. What do you think? I think it turned out pretty cool. It is hard to tell in the picture, but the wings are orange and yellow.
