A+ Teacher

When I first seen THIS project designed by the ever so talented Irene Tan, on Bo Bunny's site, I knew I was going to lift it sooner or later. What better time than Christmas for a gift to my grandsons Pre K teacher. I didn't have any Bo Bunny's Learning Curve collection, so I worked with stuff I had on hand, which was Cosmo Crickets Cogsmo papers.

Here are some close ups

I added the teachers name to personalize it.

Twinkle Toes

I love love love this layout of my grandson Dax. This is for this weeks challenge over at The Paper Variety. This weeks theme is Anything Goes, which I also love. It lets the eclectic side of me soar.

I began by cutting out the center of the die cut paper by Bo Bunny from the Et Cetera  collection. Using pop dots, I adhered it to the background paper by Prima from the Printerly collection.  Using more of the Printerly collection, I added a piece kinda of in and out of the cut out area. Let's take a look at some close ups.

I inked and misted chipboard pieces to give a rusty appearance. Then tucked them in with flowers and other die cuts. I made the bauble using Tim Holtz Fragments and some charms. Here is a close up.

For the title, I used another chipboard piece using the same technique then used tiny alphas to spell it out. And of course more flowers and some bling.

I used another fragment and added Dax's name and the year the photo was taken. I added some beads to the twine that it hangs on. here is a close up.

Santa Baby

Here it is, Tuesday night and I don't have my DT project posted for The Cuttlebug Spot. Last week, I posted the wrong project, and this week I'm a slacker...LOL!

So this weeks challenge is all about Santa Baby! I made a simple card, and simply love the looks of it.

I used papers from MME's Lost and Found Christmas, and the stamps are by Hero Arts. I love the sheer ribbon bow, it seems to finish the card off.

I am also entering at:

Joy to the World

Have you checked out this weeks challenge over at The Paper Variety?  It is to draw inspiration from a Christmas song. So for my layout, I used the song Joy to the World. The reason I used that is, I remember the joy these Christmas decorations brought Dax. His little face would light up every time we were at my moms in the evening and the lights came on.

Since I used all MME Lost and Found Christmas products, this also qualifies for their December layout challenge of Any Thing Goes.

Just look at these teeny tiny bells, aren't they the cutest? I found a package of them at one of the local second hand shops for 10 cents. There are about 20 bells in the package...can't beat that! I sewed them in a cluster on a bow I made with ribbon from the collection.

Paper Ornament

I designed this ornament in Inkscape to cut on my Cricut. It was a VERY long process, as I worked off and on all day on creating a ornament, only to lose every thing. I was not smart enough to save my work as I went along, and Inkscape froze up. Now, I would think I would have been smart enough to save it, as this has happened to me several times. This ornament is different than the one I lost, I had alot of intricate designs in it. However, I am very happy with the way this one turned out. I heat embossed the whole thing in red and gold. The snow flake is from one of MS's punches.

This was inspired by this weeks challenge over at The Paper Variety, which is to use an ornament of some form. The design team created some awesome projects that are full of inspiration, be sure to head over and check them out. And speaking of design team, they are also having a design team call. Using Scraps

What a week! I did the wrong project for The Cuttlebug Spot this week and even posted it for a few hours. So if  you seen it, disregard it...LOL!  Now, on to the correct challenge, which is to use your scraps. If you are anything like me, you have a drawer, box, or folder full of scraps. Why do we save them? oh yeah, for challenges like this one! LOL

anyway, on to my project. I threw this card together after Nilda emailed me, making me aware that I created the wrong thing. I lifted it from a card i did a year or so ago.

Bird Whisperer

I think this is one of the fastest layout I have ever done!

I used this weeks sketch from Sketchy Thursdays, and supplies from MME's Lime Twist collection. I love these pictures of Dax that were taken when he was not quite two. He cracked me up trying to talk to the seagulls. Even funnier, that they just stood there and listened to him...LOL.

Pirate Princess-Swirlydoos

I am a subscriber to Swirlydoos monthly kit club. I love these kits! they are always full of the newest products and stocked full of shabby goodness. The only problem I find is , all the papers are so pretty I have issues cutting them up...so I hoard them....LOL.  Here is a layout I made using this months kit, Beau Jardin.

I did a lot of fussy cutting on this layout. I used a dinner plate to outline a circle in the center, so I could cut around the designs. I used pop dots to give the whole layer dimension.

I used diamond dust on the word princess in the title. It's hard to get the full effects of this in the picture, but in person, it is spectacular. It is so pretty and sparkly.

I did more fussy cutting on the butterflies, then embellished them with Stickles and Liquid Pearls. I also Skickled the crown.

I incorporated one of the flowers I have made from a vintage wedding gown I picked up at the second hand store a while ago. Below are more yummy flowers and sprays from Swirlydoos.

Look at this gorgeous trim! I sewed on a string of pearls for some added interest. I love this trim!

Swirlydoos has a very talented bunch of designers, you should go check out the gallery.

The Cuttlebug Spot

The Spot is back up and running, and I'm late with my post...wouldn't you know it! For some reason, I can't get it out of my head that the post needs to go live on Wednesdays. It hasn't been that way for months!
So anyway...on to this weeks challenge, which is to incorporate a turkey into your project. NO....your hubby doesn't count! LOL. Here's the card I made this week.

Be sure to head over to The Cuttlebug Spot to see the awesome projects the rest of the design team made.

shabby chic frame

I made this layout for the 52 Week Challenge that I am a part of with Scrappin-N-Chattin and incorporated one other of the monthly challenges, which is to use masking on a layout.
It's kind of hard to see the masking, as I have followed the outline with gems. I just love how the frame turned out, I made it by layering cuts I made on the Cricut using the Sentimentals cartridge and the frame on page 28. I set it on layers and cut it at 5 1/2 inches. Be sure you set your speed to minimum due to the intricate design. I used it upside down on my project.  You can see the process in the video below.

Full of Beauty

This weeks challenge over at Lasting Memories is all about bling. Now that is something I don't ever have a problem incorporating! And have you seen the inspiration photo over at Lil Red Wagon?...yummy!
Since it was time again for the 24 Hour Challenge at Scrappin-N-Chattin, I decided to cover a few challenges in one. I love this challenge! I had to use Glitz Vintage Blue collection and this sketch.
Here is my take and a few close ups.

First, how cute are these pictures of my two youngest grand daughters? I made the headbands and tutus for them.

For the title, I used tiny alphas and a flocked rub on by Prima. Have you used the flocked rub ons yet? I love them! There are several styles and they go on so easy. I added some shabby chic treasures also by Prima, plus added a flower with spays and leaves.

I added one of my handmade shabby flowers that matches the headbands and filled it in with leaves and silk rose buds. Peeking beneath them is a chipboard flourish by Dusty Attic. I covered it with gesso, then added a few different ink colors, and finished it off with Diamond Dust. I should have taken a picture before adding the flowers so you could see how sparkly it is.

I also added a row of these fabric shabby roses. They were white and I misted them so they would fit in with my color scheme.

I incorporated a couple of my handmade butterflies along with some handmade tiny roses. I rubbed some ink around the outside of the bling shape to give a shadow effect.

Above the journaling, I did some heat embossing with some very sparkly blue powder, and added some pleated ribbon along with flowers and leaves. I added Stickles to all the leaves.

Batty

No matter what I tried, I couldn't get a good picture of the vertical banner I made for this weeks challenge at The Paper Variety. The challenge is to create a cute or spooky Halloween project. I created this bat banner for my neighbor to hang on her porch.

I drew the bat in Inkscape, to cut on my Cricut with SCAL. I cut 12 bats to layer them, so as it turns in the wind, you can still see the word. I used Stickles on the bottom edges of the bats and spelled "Spooky" with stickers. I cut about 24 inches of twine and layered it between the bats before gluing together. I tied black fibers and orange twine below each bat. To add weight to the bottom, I strung on a few glass beads and more fiber and twine.

Be sure to head over to The Paper Variety to check out all the cute spooky projects.

Pucker Up

I used Creative Scrappers Sketch #179 for this layout. I love this picture of Dax. It's funny how his chin looks like a pigs nose...LOL. Every thing used on this layout is from Cosmo Cricket's Odds and End collection, which I did alot of fussy cutting.

First Day

I created this sketch for Scrappin-N-Chattin's monthly sketch challenge and have decided to use it for this weeks open challenge over at Sketches In Thyme. Here is my take.

I also incorporated another challenge from Scrappin-N-Chattin. We were to use Halloween colors, black, orange, purple, and green. However, the layout need not be Halloween themed.

Halloween Joys

Over at The Paper Variety, they are having another fun recipe challenge this week. You are to use, 1 pumpkin, 2 word sentiment or title, and 3 buttons.

Also, the Lil Red Wagon's challenge this week is "Fall" theme. Be sure to check out both blogs, they are full of inspiration.

Here is what I came up with.

The 2 word sentiment and pumpkin are on this cut out that I have from Heart Warming Vintage. I think I bought them the first year I began scrap booking. Not sure why I have never used them, I love them!

I dyed some seam binding and twine orange to incorporate. I love the shabbiness of crinkled ribbon.

I used 3 tiny buttons along side of the image. Though this is a very simple card, I am happy with the way it turned out.
